The Lucas County jail recently acquired dozens of tablets for inmate use, a technology upgrade that will be used for both streaming movies — and connecting those incarcerated to home.
These 75 devices are now available in the jail's 33 housing modules. They come at no cost to the county from Global Tel Link, a Virgina-based company that specializes in providing telephone and other communications services to jails and prisons..
“Idle hands are the devil's workshop,” Lucas County sheriff’s Lt. Todd Reed said. “Why not keep them occupied? Why not keep them connected to their support system? And again, all of these things that they do are being monitored.”
