We here in the midwest jail, female officers can only work in the female housing units. A female officer just handed in her 2 week notice because she couldn’t stand to work in the female units any longer. She was a young single hispanic mother and a pretty good officer too. I have not worked in an all female prison but in jails the women inmates are much harder to work with. ... full thread

Juvenile Corrections Officer I (Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex)

This position rotates duty posts as specified by facility operations Orders and in accordance with the Teamsters Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Actual percentage and duty as evaluated may vary due to rotation and post assignments. Percentages are taken as an average conditioned by on-going rotation. Staff employed as a Juvenile Correction Officer I are required to stay at their post until properly relieved and are required to return to duty when recalled during emergency situations. Supervise; maintain discipline and control of residents in their living quarters, at meals, in classrooms, at work sites, activities and program areas, bathing areas; while they are being escorted throughout the facility and off grounds as necessary.
