PHILADELPHIA – Correctional facilities across Pennsylvania and the country are working to reduce incidents of suicide of those entrusted in their care. The Philadelphia Department of Prisons (PDP) is partnering with the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) to host a two-day free symposium on July 8 and 9 to bring together experts from the field and engage in sessions to learn what other institutions are doing to save inmate lives. The goal is to develop effective suicide prevention strategies for correctional security staff, social workers, medical and mental health providers, policy makers, and administrators.

This symposium will include speakers John Wetzel of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Raymond Patterson of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Sandora Cathcart of the National Institute of Corrections, Dr. Dena Williams, who oversaw behavioral health at the Cook County Department of Corrections, Jonel Coleman of the St. Charles County Department of Corrections, and Commissioner Blanche Carney of the Philadelphia Department of Prisons.

Sessions on suicide prevention methods, compassion fatigue, and numerous case studies will happen throughout this two-day symposium for front-line officers, correctional managers and supervisors, and correctional professionals such as mental health personnel, medical staff, and Social Workers.

Space is limited and registration is required. Participants may attend one day or both days. To reserve your spot, visit NIC/PDP Suicide Prevention Symposium Registration. For more information, contact Natalie Payne, the Philadelphia Department of Prison’s Training Administrator at natalie.payne@prisons.phila.gov.

hosting Suicide Prevention Symposium with the National Institute of Corrections will be a great idea to create awareness among the people who are depressed due to any reason. I read the best assignment help websites uk that provide what we want to learn about.

This is good that they're implementing suicide prevention within corrections. This is a real issue that needs to be address. Josh| San Antonio concrete
